My work is abstract expressionist. The paintings are a vibrant with an active expression of the beauty and the conflict I see in my subjects. As an artist, I try to convey to the viewer my reaction to what is around me.
Since the early 90’s, when I started painting professionally. I have been consistently drawn to urban landscapes, and a fascination with derelict buildings, old warehouses and my conflict with the sometimes unnecessary demolition, then the fascination with process of the demolition. Living on the Great Lakes has been an influence on my work. The Lakers with their massive raw industrial beauty, the grain elevators, along with the natural beauty of the landscape and Georgian Bay.
Born in Dedham, England and immigrated to Canada at the age of 10. For many years I expressed myself in the field of Interior Design which I practiced in the Caledon area. Another passion is renovating derelict buildings and bringing them back to life. I have just finished my third building on the Inner Harbour in Owen Sound, where I work and live.
In 2013 I was awarded a 3 month fellowship at The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico, in Taos New Mexico. I have included a page featuring some of the work I completed while there.
